Plot:
The swimmers is a movie released on November 11, 2022. This movie is based on a true story of two sisters Sara and Yusra as they leave their home to live a normal life in Berlin, Germany. It was a tough journey for them, they had to trust strangers without knowing where they would end up. They went through a lot of trouble, but together they were able to make it through. Yusra is a professional swimmer and loves swimming. Her dream was to get into Rio and be an Olympian. As for Sara she ends up wanting to help refugees and provide them with things she and her sister didn’t have.
Opinions:
This is my favourite movie we watched in this class so far. I have heard a lot of things about this movie and wanted to watch it a long time ago but couldn’t find the right time. I was really happy to see this movie on the list this week and couldn’t wait to watch it. For the first time in a long time I have watched a whole movie without even skipping a second. This movie was inspirational and it made me feel wanted to try my best in a lot of things I do in life. It was really sad and tough to see the things they had to go through just to live a normal life. As someone that was just watching I couldn’t keep up with what was going on, I couldn’t not believe how they must have felt experiencing all of this. The relationship of the sisters was amazing and how they stood up together with the ups and down. Also, the relationship of the coach and Yusra is something else, it was really amazing to see that there is someone like the coach that is willing to help. The ending was beautiful and really amazing to see what they have achieved. I’m also really glad to see that the family has also made it to Germany. I took half a point off because I really wanted to see what happened with the cousin and where life took him. Otherwise this movie was phenomenal with everything else.
Review:
The movie got a rate of 7.4 out of 10 on IMDb, I really thought that it would be higher. One of the reviews gave a rating of 9 out of 10. It said, “I needed to give this movie 9 stars out of 10, because it has such an important message. What are we doing with our world? Why do we let greed divide us? Why is it so important to wage war around every corner? This is an eye opening experience. To hear about refugees crossing the oceans in little boats and visually seeing what can happen is very different. Obviously it is very hard to get every suffering soul into Europe or the US, there are just too many, but this is why it is even more important to bring education and wealth into every corner of the world. It is important to have movies about fantasies, about princesses, about interesting stories, but it is maybe even more important to shine the light on unspeakable circumstances. So thanks a lot for this movie, thank you for a beautiful performance from the Issa sisters and thank you for human beings like the Mardini sisters.” Everything that is written in this comment is so true and I agree with it. This movie was really an eye opening experience.
